Taxi and Hire Car Drivers
1. What is the name of this initiative?
A special one-off incentive of RM500 for Taxi and Hire Car Drivers under the Supplementary Strategic Programme to Empower the People and Economy (PEMERKASA+) 2021.
2. Who is eligible for PEMERKASA + 2021 assistance?
(i) Malaysian citizens;
(ii) Recipients of the RM500 PERMAI 2021 incentive; and
(iii) Hold a permit issued by LPKP Sarawak and a PSV licence valid on 31 March 2021;
(iv) Hold a Driver Card issued by LPKP Sarawak, valid on 31 March 2021;
(v) Drivers and Assistant Drivers meeting criteria (iii) and (iv) may apply; and
(vi) Must not receive any other incentive under PEMERKASA + 2021.
3. I received the PERMAI 2021 incentive. Am I still eligible this time?
Yes. Taxi and Hire Car Drivers eligible for the PERMAI 2021 incentive are automatically eligible, provided they hold a permit and Driver Card issued by LPKP Sarawak and a PSV licence, all valid on 31 March 2021. No new application is required, and payment will be credited directly to your bank account.
4. I did not previously receive PERMAI 2021 assistance. Can I apply for PERMAI + 2021, and how is payment made?
If you did not receive PERMAI 2021 assistance but meet the eligibility criteria this time, you may apply by completing the application form at the following link short.at/xEU22 from 26 June 2021. Payment will be credited directly to eligible drivers’ bank accounts after their eligibility criteria have been checked.
5. When will Taxi and Hire Car Drivers receive this incentive?
Payment will be credited directly to eligible drivers’ bank accounts after eligibility checks are completed.
6. Are all new applicants automatically eligible for this incentive?
No. All new applications will first be checked to ensure that the eligibility criteria are met before the driver is considered eligible for this incentive.
7. I drive taxis, hire cars and e-hailing vehicles. Am I eligible for two or more incentive payments?
No. You are eligible for an incentive payment in only 1 category.
8. If I own two or more taxis / hire cars, am I eligible for two or more incentive payments?
No. This incentive is paid once to each driver and assistant driver, rather than according to the number of permits or vehicles owned.
9. My Driver Card expired during the MCO. How can I check that I am eligible for this assistance?
Recipients of PERMAI 2021 assistance are automatically eligible for PEMERKASA + 2021, provided they hold a permit and Driver Card issued by LPKP Sarawak and a PSV licence, all valid on 31 March 2021. New applicants must ensure that their Driver Card issued by LPKP Sarawak was valid on 31 March 2021.
10. My Driver Card expired before the MCO (31 March 2021), and I did not renew it before expiry. Am I eligible to apply for PEMERKASA + 2021 assistance?
Recipients of PERMAI 2021 assistance are automatically eligible for PEMERKASA + 2021, provided they hold a permit and Driver Card issued by LPKP Sarawak and a PSV licence, all valid on 31 March 2021. For new applications, your Driver Card must have been active and valid on 31 March 2021. Only Driver Cards active and valid on 31 March 2021 will be considered.
